October is when Lycoming County stops being somewhere you pass through and starts being somewhere you head toward

October is when Lycoming County stops being somewhere you pass through and starts being somewhere you head toward.

The Apple Butter Festival comes first, running Saturday, October 10, and Sunday, October 11, at the Waterville Fire Company on Route 44. It always falls on the second full weekend of the month, which makes it easy to plan around year after year.

The following Saturday, October 17, South Williamsport hosts the 79th Mummers’ Parade, stepping off at 2 p.m. downtown. After that many years, the crowd is as much a part of it as the procession.
