Stop 1:            Ghosts at the Genetti Hotel

                        200 West Fourth Street

The Genetti hotel found in downtown Williamsport, originated under the name Lycoming Hotel, still holds rich history and significance to the city of Williamsport. Built in 1921 during Williamsport’s famous Lumber boom, the hotel officially opened in June of 1922 and still stands as the tallest building in the city standing 192 feet over West Fourth Street. The Genetti, like other historic hotels, has a rumored ghost stories as part of its history. Although details are unclear, there are confirmed that two souls met their demise on the eighth floor of the hotel. One being that of a priest and the other a four-year-old girl. The circumstances surrounding their last moments are unknown today but the hotel’s own YouTube channel shares that there is at least one ghost that haunts that floor and the hotel. Also, a related coincidence is that on two different occasions air-conditioning units located on the eighth floor of the hotel fell out and landed on unoccupied cars below on the street, yet no one knows how they became loose.

Paranormal activity occurs in hotels across the United States. Our own local ghost haunt is a convenient spot in Williamsport not too far from everything and in the heart of downtown. If you are brave, then stay a night on the eighth floor and see if you can learn more from the ghostly inhabitants.
