Under the baton of Rick Coulter, the Williamsport Symphony Orchestra presents the Billtown Brass in an enchanting “Holiday Brass” concert to kick off the holidays. In collaboration with Williamsport Victorian Christmas, the concert will take place at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Williamsport, PA, on Saturday, November 18, 2023, at 5:00 PM. This musical extravaganza promises an evening filled with heartwarming tunes that capture the spirit of the holidays, covering all the feelings of the holidays from quiet contemplation to exuberant celebration.

The Billtown Brass Band is a traditional British Brass Band and includes the finest brass and percussion performers in the region. The twenty-eight-member brass and percussion ensemble will perform both modern and traditional holiday fare. Well known favorites include A Christmas Fanfare, Mary Did You Know, The Snowman, Yule Dance, Jingle Bells Forever and Leroy Anderson’s Sleigh Ride.

Several special selections will be featured on the program. The first is a regional premiere of Fantasy on the Marine s’ Hymn by the band’s lead trombone Kevin Henry. Kevin is an active composer, trombonist and educator in central PA and has performed with major orchestras and contemporary artists throughout the northeast. Guest vocal soloist Cathy Byham will join the band to perform Santa Wants A Hippopotamus for Christmas and Christmas Time is Here, from the Charlie Brown Christmas special. The program will conclude with a Carol Fantasy sing-along.

This is a concert designed to have something special for everyone, audience, players and conductor. It includes works of joy, comedy, and reflective pieces that encourage us to focus on the true meaning of the season.
