The state named our rail trail Pennsylvania’s Trail of the Year, and autumn is a good time to find out why.

Pine Creek follows an old railroad corridor through Lycoming and Tioga counties, which means the grade stays gentle the whole way. That makes it friendly for families, casual riders, and anyone who’d rather not fight a hill on a day off.

You don’t have to ride it end to end either. Many people pick one access point, go out a few miles, and turn around when they’re ready.

Walkers, runners, birders, and anglers use it just as much as cyclists do. Bald eagles are a regular sight along the creek, and the valley changes color quickly once the nights cool off.

If you’re planning a trip, the Lycoming County Visitors Bureau can help you sort out access points, parking, and where to stop for food along the way.

Plan your visit at visitlycomingcounty.com.
