DESCRIPTION:Dr. Christopher Pearl\, faculty member of Lycoming College\, will be speaking on his recently-published book Declarations of Independence: Indigenous Resilience\, Colonial Rivalries\, and the Cost of Revolution (The Revolutionary Age).  On July 4\, 1776\, two hundred miles northwest of Philadelphia\, on Indigenous land along the West Branch of the Susquehanna River\, a group of colonial squatters declared their independence. Known as the ‘Pine Creek Declaration of Independence’\, this document was drafted by the Fair Play Men and of course\, is overshadowed by the Declaration of Independence drafted in Philadelphia on the same date. Guests will enjoy this fascinating segment of history! Copies of the book will be available for purchase.  Coffee Hours are free and open to the public. \n

Volunteers with the Muncy Historical Society will honor the former soldiers and the families who supported them before and after the war with an open house on Saturday\, March 29.  The community is welcome to participate and unite in thanking and honoring Vietnam veterans and their families. Light refreshments will be served from 2 to 4 p.m. \n
