SUMMARY:Trick or Treating at the Taber Museum
DESCRIPTION:An afternoon of trick-or-treating at the Taber Museum of the Lycoming County Historical Society will be held on Saturday\, October 25\, 2025 from 1 until 3pm. The museum is located at 858 West Fourth Street\, Williamsport. The program is free and open to the public but pre-registration is strongly suggested. \nTrick-or-treaters (aged 12 or younger) will be encouraged to visit the museum accompanied by an adult. Guides will be stationed throughout the museum and will share a short segment on the history of the area\, food traditions\, or the role of children during a particular period of history. Treats will be distributed to the children in attendance. Children are encouraged to come in costume and bring a bag in which to gather treats. \nRegistration may be accomplished by emailing at info@tabermuseum.org or by telephoning 570.326.3326. There is ample parking in back of the museum or on the street.

The Society partners with the Vintage Gatherers Quilters\, who\, together\, have become a group under the auspices of the Quilts of Valor Foundation®. The Quilt of Valor effort involves local quilters who provide quilts to honor veterans and service members who have been touched by war with comforting and healing quilts. The presentation and program will be held in the Muncy Baptist Church\, 11 West Penn Street\, Muncy\, PA.\nImmediately following the veteran presentations\, Pat Jordan will perform her dramatic portrayal of Carrie Chapman Catt\, an American women’s suffrage leader who campaigned for the 19th Amendment to the United States Constitution\, which gave U.S women the right to vote in 1920. Jordan’s Catt presentation is an entertaining and highly researched one-woman play about the woman who led an army of voteless women in 1919 to pressure Congress to pass the constitutional amendment giving them the right to vote and convinced state legislatures to ratify it in 1920. \nhttps://www.muncyhistoricalsociety.org

Taber Museum of the Lycoming County Historical Society will host its first Coffee Hour of the 2026 season on Thursday\, March 12th at 10am\, with a talk by Jack Fisher\, a retired Professor from the Pennsylvania College of Technology. The Lecture Series which continues throughout the year is sponsored by Catherine Burns Insurance Services\, Montoursville\, and will feature a number of exciting lectures and reenactors to celebrate the history and heritage of the country’s 250th birthday. The lecture will “cover the logging activities in north central PA including the felling of trees\, hauling to the streams\, lumber camps\, tanneries\, saw mills\, log boom\, and the last raft.  This activity changed the makeup of the forest and had a direct influence on the forest of today.” The lecture will be held in the Community Room of the Taber Museum and is free and open to the public. Light refreshments are served.   The museum is located at 858 West Fourth Street\, Williamsport. There is ample parking behind the museum as well as on the street.
