Coffee Hour at the Taber Museum

December 9, 2021 @ 10:00 am

“Victorian Women Wore Their Art” to be discussed at the Taber Museum

Williamsport- The Thomas T. Taber Museum of the Lycoming County Historical Society will be hosting Connie Phillips at its Coffee Hour on Thursday, December 9, 2021 at 10am. Connie will present ‘how Victorian fashion art transformed from conceptual sketch to color fashion plate/pattern to final fabric creation.’ Her talk will be illustrated with fashion/magazine plates and original outfits, emphasizing the changes of style that spanned 61 years, during the reign of Queen Victoria. The program will be held in the Community Room of the Taber Museum, 858 West Fourth Street, Williamsport. It is free and open to the public.

The outfits which will be on display are from Connie’s personal collection. A number of them are ladies’ clothing deaccessioned from museums and historical societies throughout the country. Connie recently presented this talk to enthusiastic participants at the Victorian Christmas House Tour. The Taber Museum is pleased to include it within their lecture series.

Social distancing is suggested and the use of face masks are required unless the participant is fully vaccinated. The Lecture Series is underwritten by the Woodcock Foundation for the Appreciation of the Arts. As this will be the last year the Woodcock Foundation is active in granting monies for programs such as this, personnel of the Taber Museum acknowledges their great help in producing many fine years of the Lecture Series.

Please contact the museum at 570.326.3326 or visit our website for updates on programming at the Museum. Parking is available behind the Museum or on the street.
